After graduating from Holy Cross, where she studied both mathematics and visual arts, Peg Benison continued her studies at Parsons School of Design in New York. There she studied computer illustration and painting, concentrating on classical painting technique.
She began her career as an illustrator, creating computer illustrations and animations for children's educational software and print publications, working for Scholastic Inc. and McClanahan Inc. However, painting continued to be her true calling and eventually she decided to concentrate on the fine arts. In addition to painting she has recently begun to explore photography.
With a background of working with both computers and fine art, it was a natural fit for her to begin designing websites for artists and arts organizations. It was then she realized that to have one website that would provide information about local artists and local arts organizations throughout the region, would be a great way to help the arts community as a whole, and AreaArtist.com was born. "There are so many talented local artists doing incredible work, with AreaArtist.com, our goal is to make it easy for collectors and those interested in the arts to find out more about these amazing artists and their work."
She has served on the Board of the Mamaroneck Artists' Guild and the Stamford Art Association and as an Advisory Board member of the Greenwich Art Society.
